ABSTRACT

This chapter leadership and specifically primary school leadership in recognition of the struggles, celebrations, challenges and pain that practitioners experience. The school opened on the current site in 1897 and was originally a school for boys. Following Local Authority reorganisation in 1983 the school was given a new name and became an all through co-educational primary school for children aged 4-years to 11-years-old. Through the PhD research process the term 'leadership narrative' evolved. It was important to present the stories of research as narratives and to recognise the emergent conceptualisation of school leadership. The formation of the group was a motivation for him to access doctorate level study. Discourse and reflective research journaling were important research processes and embedded from the beginning. The PhD Action Learning Group was significant in sustaining everyone in their position as practitioner researchers.
