ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a brief, first-person historical overview of the work disability field, including the Sherbrooke Model, and how a comprehensive biopsychosocial approach replaced a purely healthcare or forensic perspective. Although policies implementing this new approach are under development, the interaction of science and politics is still a work in progress requiring transdisciplinary efforts.
