ABSTRACT

Hayatshahi’s “Resistance” exercise looks at actor motivation through a physically charged perspective, focusing not only on action but also on reaction using a push and pull method to activate the work. Based on the use of fabric in Iben Nagel’s “Green Exercise,” Hayatashi adds components of text and vocalization, shifts in tempo, use of space, and creates vignettes to further experiment with scripted scene work. Resistance aims to give actors options for creating an embodied character.
