ABSTRACT

Without ever mentioning Stanislavski’s terms, Pye’s version of “Hunter/Hunted” allows students to experience the foundation of the actor’s craft in a visceral, high-stakes way. “Hunter/Hunted: Experiential Learning and the Actor’s Craft” reveals the differences between beat changes and tactic changes and provides touchpoints that can be returned to when working with scripted text. Suitable for actors at all levels, this exercise will also help to reveal how emotion is released as a by-product of an actor’s full commitment to their objective, especially when that objective is confronted with an obstacle.
