ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the premise of the Six Cardinal Directions, and how multi-dimensional explorations of the body can lead to complex explorations of text. Timlick focuses on exercises that integrate movement, breath, sound, and text adapted from and influenced by the work of Feldenkrais, Laban, and Michael Chekhov. Featuring specific scripts for the instructor to follow, these explorations help students increase their use of tactics vocal and physical changes connected to time, space, and imagination.
