Starting with the premise that smartphone use and social media has changed the way stories are now told, “Creating a Physical Score in a Snap” capitalizes on acting students’ digital expertise as an entryway into creating physical scores and scene work. This essay draws the connection between curating and labeling on Instagram and Snapchat with the imaginative work of given circumstances in character development. Pacio’s work is cutting edge, accessible, and fun – it challenges the way we guide students to use their imagination and connects their daily technological experiences with acting technique.
