ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the building of an educational institution in Group Relations (GR) in Chile, whose embryonic beginnings date back 30 years, a period during which the institution experienced incremental transformations that enabled its existence today. It also includes the study of political, historical, and ethical dilemmas that GR promoters have faced throughout the years in the process of making this activity a legitimized training space for Chilean audiences. A chronology is presented describing the history of the conferences’ process of development. Subsequently, the most significant dilemmas present during that process are identified and explained. The conferences and the experiential learning method achieved their positioning by managing ambiguity. The link between the Group Relations conferences’ institutional framework and the Business School can be described through a ‘commensal relationship’. The chapter ends with conclusions regarding the most outstanding meanings in the establishment of the conferences at the Faculty of Economics and Business.
