ABSTRACT

This chapter explores one entry for each of the twelve countries of the enlarged Community. A project on health education employing trained animateurs as well as television, radio and various types of printed material. The Department of Education is responsible for general education and for vocational education, but a total of nine Ministries have some degree of responsibility for particular aspects of adult education. Other Ministries and national organisations are responsible for provision in particular, specialised areas. A joint committee representing the Ministries engaged in adult education is responsible for policy decisions. The Ministry of Public Education is responsible for adult education, but other Ministries undertake professional and technical training. The Ministry of Education is responsible for the provision of adult education in France through its network of educational establishments. Formal adult education is overseen by the Ministry of Education and Science, as are correspondence education and part-time education for young workers.
