ABSTRACT

Europe is now in a state of flux. After the completion of the European market and with the expansion of Europe in an easterly direction, mobility in general has steadily increased in Europe. In particular, cross-border transport has been rising at a rate beyond 10 percent, a process which is reinforced by current globalization trends. The integration of former segmented markets - and the related liberalization in Europe - has led to drastic changes in both goods and passenger transport throughout Europe.
