ABSTRACT

This chapter explores multiple themes and issues pertaining to the management and maintenance of partnerships, with a particular focus on reviewing and revising. It is an important role of a partnership broker is to help partners to structure reviews in a way that builds a common understanding about the link between how their alliance is managed and their ability to progress together and achieve their desired outcomes. Partnership brokers can help partners strike a good balance in their reviews between assessing how they are doing in relation to their task and creating value, and how they are doing in relation to their interaction their relationship. Partnership brokers can help partners adopt a structured approach to reviews and do so in a way that seeks to enhance partners' collaborative mindset and skills and their capability to self-manage their own reviews. Partnership brokers and partners should consider how they can both learn from reviews of the partnership broker's role, performance and added-value.
