ABSTRACT

I became a partnership broker by accident. Twenty years ago, I was part of a research team working in Zambia’s Eastern Province to learn about what sort of governance systems existed in isolated areas of the country. During our travels, we camped for about 10 days in a village called Luangeni. In the evenings, the elders would sit in the centre of the village and tell stories while the children sang, danced and played around them.
