ABSTRACT

Partnership brokers explain a moving target as they can be engaged in a large number of activities for many different stakeholders under very diverse circumstances. Partnership brokers can do much to promote and establish an appreciation of the other parties viewpoints upon which a joint problem analysis and solution generation can be based. A partnership broker can play an important role in customising each partnership's unique requirements so that they are understood, tested and advanced coherently with partners. By classifying the various 'partnering fits' in terms of full to partial or weak to optimal, a partnership broker should be better able to assist in identifying the challenges that they may need to work on in a future collaboration. Though partnership practitioners recognise the importance of scoping, it is noted that they often do not devote sufficient time to it in practice.
