ABSTRACT

Angels is an international initiative formed by an alliance between Boehringer Ingelheim and the European Stroke Organization (ESO), World Stroke Organization (WSO) and Stroke Alliance for Europe (SAFE). Angels are present in more than 41 countries supporting those involved from stroke to stroke mortality in different countries around the world. In 2018, Angels arrived in Colombia with the aim of making the main signs and symptoms of stroke visible, along with the importance of acting in time. The campaign strategy also sought to raise awareness of the need to work for the ACV with different authorities. The strategy involved managing alliances and one-to-one meetings with different interest groups (universities, taxi drivers, soccer players, patients, doctors, influencers, media, among others) so that the message is multiplied. Separate campaigns were developed in rural and urban areas with clear and attractive messages. The campaign achieved a reach of more than 20 million people, with more than 60 media impacts in national, regional and social media. A forum was organized which brought together different key medical-scientific organizations, first and third level institutions, actors from the health system, the media, among others, which reported on progress and on the intervention of former Minister of Health Juan Pablo Uribe. After a year's campaigning, the different health institutions interested in participating in the program approached each other and the LCA figures began to decrease noticeably!
