ABSTRACT
This chapter examines Jordan Peele's 2017 film, Get Out, to consider the ways the film represents Black women, in particular through the character of Georgina. It explores the hegemonic representations and resistive possibilities of the quare Black femme, drawing on theories of femme identity, Afrofuturism, and Afropessimism. Ultimately, Georgina offers possibilities for resistive readings in a narrative that centers Blackness through heterosexuality and masculinity.
