ABSTRACT

Lara Roberts has been a mathematics instructional coach at an elementary school in Pasadena, Texas for eight years. The campus contains about 700 students in grades pre-kindergarten to fourth grade with 95% being identified as low socio-economic status. Lara has been in education for 19 years. She spent 11 years as a third- and fourth-grade teacher in the same district. Lara has written mathematics curriculum to support efforts with assessment, instructional activities, and professional development at the district level. She has facilitated professional development at the campus and district level while also serving as a Master Trainer for district-wide mathematics professional development. Jacquelyn Kennedy has been a mathematics instructional coach for two years at an elementary school in Pasadena, TX that serves students in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. 87% of the students on the campus qualify for free and reduced lunch. Prior to being an instructional coach, Jacquelyn taught third-grade for 3 years. She taught in both self-contained and departmentalized settings, teaching only mathematics in the departmentalized setting. Jacquelyn has presented mathematics professional development sessions at the campus and district level, presented numerous sessions at regional and state mathematics conferences, and written an article published in a statewide professional publication for mathematics. Jacquelyn has helped write curriculum for the district’s elementary mathematics program as well as for Connect, a computer-based individualized learning platform in fourth-grade mathematics.
