ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors describe their initiative to use the social dreaming matrix as a method to open an alternative space for dialogue in their community in Tel Aviv, Israel. They explain the violent discourse in the Israeli society, which was the context in which we felt the need to promote public dialogue. The authors examine how they view the social dreaming matrix as a method that could promote such dialogue. They analyse the form and content of several social dreaming matrix sessions in which they applied this method in their community. The authors discuss the effects these sessions had on the participants, their new understanding from these sessions and their analysis, and lessons they have learned about the use of the social dreaming matrix as a method to promote public dialogue in a split society characterized by violent discourse.
