ABSTRACT

Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University (SAHZU) School of Medicine is a renowned general hospital engaged in clinical care, education, and research with a complete range of disciplines, strong clinical capabilities, advanced techniques, multidisciplinary collaboration, and excellent managerial expertise. SAHZU was accredited as a joint commission international (JCI) teaching hospital in January 2013, which injected new vitality to the organization with a history over 140 years. A hospital-wide weekly meeting was fixed on the schedule for the interpretation and learning of JCI standards. Quality improvement and patient safety is one of the core focuses covering a wide range of areas in JCI survey. During the preparation for JCI survey, we noticed that JCI requires the hospital determine the education needs of staff based on all types of data and information, including quality and safety monitoring. The JCI standards expect integrated and coordinated care for patients through the cooperation among all departments, units, and services.
