ABSTRACT

The Children’s Hospital of Fudan University leveraged the strength of advanced international healthcare quality management standards through learning from the successful experience and approaches adopted in overseas hospitals to better improve the quality management and culture of safety in the hospital. The emphasis on patient safety and quality of care had served as the light to help the hospital identify the opportunities of improvement and plan actions based on the reality. The new module relieves the work load on the staff and serves to continuously reduce the risks of hospital-acquired infection and improve the patient safety. If a child was identified with hospital-acquired infection at a certain time point, the system would capture the clinical symptoms, physical signs and lab results that could be related to the infection, and then calculate the suspicion level with color-coded warning. The suspicion level monitoring module is like a robot that gives diagnosis to the patient.
