ABSTRACT
Founded in 1956, The First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University (FAHXMU) was one of the 156 key projects during the first 5-year period of China. On October 11, the leader of the surveyor team announced to all the staff that FAHXMU passed the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation survey. By working toward JCI accreditation, administrative staff unanimously felt that they had been in a course of science-based management of healthcare organizations that provided systemic structure and integrate theory with practice. Under the new model, the competence of medical staff relevant to their positions is evaluated based on a four-part structure, namely the volume of clinical services, the quality of work, performance in the work and ground rules. JCI accreditation has increased our access to higher-level cooperation and exchanges with a wider range of organizations.
