ABSTRACT

The second programme in GEC has happened and the third began in October 1976. The second had fourteen participants, in three sets. Eleven were from GEC, one from ICI, one from the Ministry of Defence and one was a research officer with the EETPU (formerly the ETU). As ALP had made a policy decision not to take part in the second programme, the term 'external adviser' was coined for the role previously played by ALP advisers. Two men introduced to GEC by ALP — Tony Eccles and Bob Garratt — stayed on for the second programme. Geoff Gaines joined DISC to become the third external adviser and to look after the DISC end of coordination and administration. David Pearce remained as overall programme coordinator, and once again there was a GEC adviser to each set, two being the top personnel executives from large GEC operating companies and the third the director of the Marconi Staff Development Centre.
