ABSTRACT

It has been said that if we give someone a fish, they will eat for a day, but if we teach someone to fish, they will eat for a lifetime. There is perhaps no greater impact possible than to grow the field by training others in the science of behavior analysis. In this chapter, we will address some of the challenges of training those who are new to the science of behavior analysis and its technologies. The professional responsibilities of trainers will be discussed in the context of the Fourth and Fifth Edition Task Lists published by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board®. In this chapter, Peter Sturmey will offer his insight on the importance of staff training.
