ABSTRACT

It is common for the behavior analyst beginning their first job to feel like the servant of two masters: they have obligations under the Professional and Ethical Compliance Code® as well as obligations to their employers. In this chapter, we examine the professional responsibilities of the behavior analyst when serving as an employee to a larger organization. These responsibilities are described within the context of the Fourth and Fifth Edition Task Lists® as published by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board®. This chapter also includes an interview with Dan Montgomery, the President of the Illinois Federation of Teachers, who discusses the benefits and challenges of collective bargaining as well as the bargaining process.
