ABSTRACT

As practitioners of applied behavior analysis, we may be called upon to advocate for the services which would lead to the “best outcomes” for our clients or for others who may benefit from the technologies of applied behavior analysis. In this chapter, we will discuss the ethical and professional responsibilities of the behavior analyst when acting as an advocate with particular focus on self-determination as the ideal “best outcome.” Self-advocate and lawyer Claire Sayers offers her insight inthe conclusion of this chapter.
