ABSTRACT

The design and implementation of research areperhaps the greatest endeavors of behavior analysts. As a field driven by evidence, this endeavor is a tremendous responsibility. In this chapter, we will review how the behavior analyst upholds their responsibility to research participants, to colleagues within the field, as well as to the truth. Each element of the Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behavior Analysts® is explained and considerations examples are provided as well. Code elements include the necessity of informed consent, confidentiality, and other characteristics of research. This chapter also includes an interview with Dr Philip Zimbardo.
