ABSTRACT

It is the purpose of the authors to report on the professional services of the Mental Health Association of the Thirteenth Arrondissement, an administrative section of Paris with a population of 165,000. Because of its emphasis on serving a specific geographic area or sector, the work of the Mental Health Association of the Thirteenth Arrondissement has become known as a sectorization project. It is the aim of the Thirteenth Arrondissement Plan to create a whole range of extramural facilities with clearly organized and defined roles, all centering around the community Mental Health Center and each entrusted to a specialized team. The Alfred Binet Center for Child Guidance is organized into four teams under the expert guidance of a director and a social assistant director. Each team is responsible for a geographic area of the arrondissement and is composed of a number of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, together with secretaries and various professional assistants.
