ABSTRACT

In the Foreword of this book, Professor Bogo spoke of a “perfect storm” in relation to insufficient placement supply. This metaphor has gained new meaning in the current era, with the COVID-19 pandemic being declared as this publication was being finalised. This has led to devastating global consequences for countries and economies. In turn, this has impacted on professional disciplines like social work, and more specifically, the provision of social work placements. The fragility of field education has been highlighted in such uncertain times.
