ABSTRACT

Organized crime has its own functional criteria. The most essential criteria are the existence of personnel working concertedly on some form of criminal activity- organized crime groups. The evolution of organized crime and its distinct globalization are linked to social and technological progress world-wide: the achievements in technologies, advanced communications, interdependence of international finance and business operations, extension of electronic financial transactions and international tourism. The intermediate level of organized crime is a transitional stage to more elaborate and dangerous formations. This kind of association consists of several subordinate units: fighters, secret agents, executors, bodyguards, “financists” and others. Organized crime is a large-scale phenomenon in modern society, representing a huge potential threat for countries regardless of their political systems and ideological beliefs. In many countries, the future of democratic developments depends on successfully overcoming the criminal influence. Organized crime will always enjoy influence and footing in the legitimate power institutions.
