ABSTRACT

Codsall High School is a mixed 13–18 comprehensive with 959 students on roll, of which 149 are in the Sixth Form, and with the equivalent of 61.5 teaching staff in the September of 1978. Many teachers at Codsall put hours of extra effort into producing resources. The governing body has given the school good support, but in terms of the curriculum has for the most part placed particular emphasis on good examination results, traditional subject teaching and streaming. The Local Authority advisers and officers serve the school well and are readily available for advice when requested but, with the exception of science, there has been no sustained curriculum development in collaboration with other Authority secondary schools. The curriculum innovations and developments which have taken place in the school have been almost entirely dependent on the knowledge and expertise of the teaching staff.
