ABSTRACT
The aims of group care are to promote an air of confidence which will enable the residents to act as independently as their physical and mental state will allow. Natural living is a philosophy whereby residents in care are encouraged to live lives as they have always done, regardless of any routine imposed by the establishment: in other words, resident-orientated care. The staffs are all experts in their own field, in their own right, and they all have responsibility within the home, to the residents and with the residents. To allow the staff to get to know a few members of the resident group we divide the residents into groups of around seven or eight who constantly have the personal attention for the more intimate side of life of the particular members of staff within the home.
