ABSTRACT

This final chapter asserts that the goal of this small edited volume is to revitalize interest in – and expand on – the study of African-Native Americans. In this chapter, the editor discusses how the authors that have contributed to its contents and the lives that inform their research constitute present problems, perspectives, and prospects for further exploration of the relevance that African-Native American experiences hold for understanding the results of African and Native American contacts. Central in this discussion is the assertion that African-Native Americans are part of history and a byproduct of African and Native American contacts that have occurred and continue into the present.
