ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces a family with two teenage sons with Usher Syndrome, a genetic disease that causes hearing loss, vision loss, and difficulties with balance. It presents a conversation between the young men and their parents during which they reflect on their experiences and achievements, consider their relationships with professionals and other support systems, and articulate their life philosophies and goals for the future. Their strong family bond and determination are recognized as key assets.
