ABSTRACT

Paisley College is a Scottish Central Institution originally founded in 1897; all its courses are now to either first degree or higher degree level. The College’s degree and postgraduate courses are validated by the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA), and the College is a CNAA self-validating institution. In 1987 (when the BookshelF system was acquired) the College had 3,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) students and a teaching staff of 296. In the intervening years it has grown further to some 3,500 FTE although the teaching staff numbers have slightly declined. From 1990 the College has been pursuing a closer association with Glasgow University.
