ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to present an overview and analysis of the increasing development of crime in the Baltic region, Central/Eastern Europe and in the former Soviet Union; the threat it poses to the internal and regional security of Western Europe and the fledging democracies of the East; and the current bilateral and multilateral responses being undertaken to stem the growth of crime and organised criminal activities in the region.
