ABSTRACT

The area of narcissism has fascinated people ever since the mythological Greek figure Narcissus exclaimed that “the spark I kindle is the torch I carry”. Researchers have distinguished narcissism with self-esteem by describing the former as “passionately wanting to think well of oneself” and the latter as actually “thinking well of oneself”. Self-esteem has been associated with lower levels of anxiety and depression, whereas narcissism has been associated with stress, feelings of humiliation and a range of mental health problems.
