ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses a Computerized Mass Appraisal system used in the State of Queensland and illustrates its flexibility and performance by use of a case study. Queensland comprises highly developed Coastal centres with the bulk of the population located in the Capital of Brisbane and provincial cities principally in the South-east corner. For valuation purposes the State is divided into parcels of land which are mainly based on surveyed allotments. The Valuation of Land Act requires that the Department of Lands must decide the unimproved value of land for the Acts under which local authorities are established. Integrated Valuation and Sales System is an Integrated Valuation Administration and Valuation system which provides support in the processes of valuation administration and valuation under the Valuation of Land Act. The Valuation Administration area covers the following subsystems: property update; objections; appeals; issues; provide information; security; and standard information.
