ABSTRACT

School leaders continue to seek new ways to more efficiently and effectively lead their schools. One tool embraced by some school leaders is Twitter. In this chapter, we review the literature related to the ways school leaders use Twitter by describing how leaders engage with Twitter to share (push) and gather (pull) information. This review also highlights the ways in which school leaders’ use of Twitter may be aligned with the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL). School leaders use Twitter to build community, increase professional capacity, and learn collaboratively. Gaps in the research related to the standards are also identified.
