ABSTRACT

Today, the global community is witnessing some inescapable consequences of high levels of pollution and human-induced climate change. In 2015, the United Nations developed the Agenda for the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, with several goals addressing air quality, climate change and global warming. This paper discusses a preliminary qualitative sociological study conducted in 2016–2017 in the city of New Delhi, India, relating to alarmingly high levels of air pollution. In relation to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, “Good health and well-being for people”, and 13, “Climate action”, the study explores the perspectives of youth on the subject, attempting to bridge the gap between societal understanding, awareness and governmental laws.
