ABSTRACT
The socialist economy was supposed to react to negative aspects of the functioning of the capitalist economy and create an ideal society characterized by harmony and abundance. The respective socialist countries and societies had their specifics, and due to it their applied economic policies diverged although they generally were supposed to follow the SU model. The foundations were thus similar in all the countries.
