ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the progressive and exploratory capacities of the Child ego state. Drawing upon research in implicit knowing and subsymbolic processing, the fundamentally nonverbal and somatic aspects of the Child are described and illustrated with clinical examples. This chapter is a reproduction of the paper that was the second of those granted the Eric Berne Memorial Award.
