ABSTRACT

The chapter describes a new, recovery-oriented behavioral tool developed in a closed psychiatric forensic ward in a state hospital in Prague, Czech Republic. Its goal is to integrate different interventions, structure the course of therapy and promote patients’ self-agency by enhancing responsibility over individualized therapeutic plans. The process of analyzing patients’ needs, developing the tool in cooperation with the therapeutic team and its implementation is described, followed by a discussion of achievements as well as difficulties.

In leading the development and implementation of this tool on the ward, the author demonstrates the clinical psychologist’s unique perspective and ability to identify needs and integrate new therapeutic methods while working in close cooperation with the multi-disciplinary team and patients.
