ABSTRACT

Can the sustainable and a disruptive transportation future be both accessible and equitable? This chapter expands on the earlier suggestions in the text that future mobility should be shared and socially just. It will explore how these topics can be linked not only to the emergence of TNCs and the transition to an electric vehicle economy, but to the transition to AVs. The chapter looks both at the state of the research but also explores market conditions and uncertainties. It offers policy recommendations and concludes with open questions that engineers, planners and policy makers will need to grapple with as our transportation network continues to evolve.
