ABSTRACT
Thinking in terms of room for marginalized epistemologies within socially recognized, institutionalized sites of knowledge production inevitably opens up the question of whether these distinct knowledge-making traditions are at all compatible with each other. The epistemologies of the South concern the production and validation of knowledges anchored in the experiences of resistance of all those social groups that have systematically suffered injustice, oppression, and destruction caused by capitalism, colonialism, and patriarchy. The ‘master’s house’ has its seductive power and many of those who move into it have no difficulties to start using its tools as soon as they have them at their disposal. The chapter also presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book.
