ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with C. P. Brown’s method of translating texts. It discusses the process of selection of texts and portions of texts within them by him and the choices he makes when he omits parts of the texts which he feels are ‘devoid of interest and utility’ to the English reader. The essay argues how the translations reveal Brown’s attitude towards the subject, his glossing over of the complexities of the text and his own interpretive interventions in the translations.
