ABSTRACT

Nigeria has a long history of religious conflicts. Some of the most virulent conflicts have been between the Christians and the Muslims in the northern part of the country. Consequently, the radicalisation of many Muslims in the north coincides with an increasing number of attacks by violent extremist groups in the country, particularly by terrorist groups like Boko Haram. The Nigerian military has put up stiff resistance to the terrorist group and complemented it with setting up a rehabilitation programme for terrorist detainees.
