ABSTRACT

“Thank you very much indeed, Don. We now have about fifteen minutes for questions. There is a roving mike, so if you’d like to put your hand up, stand up and introduce yourself, we’ll get the mike over to you. While we’re waiting for questions, I was wondering, Don, about your initial comment about your reaction to the patient, where you removed the ashtray from the room? I was wondering—are there some necessary adaptations to the clinical setting that need to be thought about in dealing with potentially violent patients, or do you think this is something that could be quite destructive or negative in the process?”
