ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author appreciates Mr. B's creativity and ability to bring about states of mind and compromise formations which did keep him alive as he went on his searches from harbour to harbour. Mr. B describes his rejecting in the following way: "It is like I sail into a harbor". The water is beautiful and all of the houses on the hills of the coast are colourful and perfect. Mr. B dated about thirty women and delighted in bringing me stories of women who got no further than a walk or one dinner. Mr. B began to have more than one date with two women and quickly settled on one woman. Mr. B was integrating thoughts about himself and his childhood and acknowledging the wish to use "blacking out". People were involved in fluctuating configurations of "who was going to hurt who" as "hurting love" was played out on our analytic stage.
