ABSTRACT

Hearing Voices is the title of a play that I wrote, based entirely on interviews given to me by a number of people that I met while I was a patient on a secure psychiatric ward in 2006. The script consists of interview extracts combined with my own account of that stay. After writing the play, I secured Arts Council funding to produce a rehearsed play-reading at The Cochrane in London, and then, the following year, to take it on a tour to theatres around the country. I performed in the production, as myself, alongside members of my theatre company, Artemis.
