ABSTRACT

Social dreaming has been a part of the final week of the programme since about 1999. It has been used in a great variety of settings world-wide, for about twenty years, as a tool for exploring group experiences on an unconscious as well as conscious level, and there is now a considerable literature concerning its use. Senior managers' programme (SMP) uses a combination of cognitive psychology and conative psychology to inform its educational design. SMP also works with theories and concepts that include chaos theory, metaphor, and discourse theory, as well as psychodynamic theories of groups and organizations. Individual progress in SMP is gauged by self- and peer assessment of the quality of participation in myriad, sequentially constructed, team interactions—and by the insights gained by the individual into his or her own behaviour, as well as by its effect upon others within the group, teams, or organizations.
