ABSTRACT

The link between dreaming and thinking has been chronicled by R. Becker. Being available for the thought processes is brought about by the mental disposition that can come alive in the social dreaming matrix. Leaving space for a new idea has been the hallmark of social dreaming. In a matrix, one can witness the participants reaching after the new free-association, the new idea, the new thinking, the new thought, as they dwell in the space of knowing/not-knowing. Social dreaming invites working with the dreaming in different ways from those of the past, from conventional ways. Social dreaming invokes a disposition for understanding that relies on not-knowing, in the first instance. The social dreaming matrix is in the process of causing an epistemological shift in the understanding of dreaming and dream work. It focuses on the gaining of knowledge and leaves the idea of personal understanding of oneself on one side.
