ABSTRACT

The transactional diagrams in the meetings and informal conversations showed predominant CP-AC complementary transactions. Transactional Analysis (TA) models are integrated seamlessly along with non-TA organisational models to facilitate change. Eric Berne's theory on organisations forms the basis of the frame of reference. It also includes later contributions to organisational TA by J. Hay. The purpose of this contribution is to illustrate the application of TA as a potent frame of reference for an organisation development (OD) consultant. Explicit application includes teaching TA theory to provide a new language and also to bring change. Implicitly, TA works as a frame of reference in the mind of the consultant in all that he is undertaking. The explicit approach is reflected in the TA based training part of OD interventions. The implicit approach is the cornerstone of all facilitative processes like coaching, process consultancy, contracting, evaluation, and feedback.
